Get Involved

There are so many ways to support the efforts of CSS including donating your time, money and expertise. For 30 years families have helped CSS create experiences for the individuals they serve that not only enrich their lives, but contribute to the communities they live in. How can you help?

Make a Financial Contribution

Every donation, regardless of size, helps CSS continue their valuable work

  • Make a donation – it can be made in honor of someone
  • Include a bequest in your will
  • Designate CSS as your favorite charity for workplace giving

Volunteer

There are so many ways to support CSS by sharing your time and interests.  Just as CSS individual’s programs are designed to match their skills with their interests, so are our volunteer opportunities.

  • Share your expertise by teaching a class
  • Support an on-going program (sports, arts, nutrition, classes)
  • Volunteer at a special event (prom, Olympics, holiday parties)
  • Serve on a committee
  • Provide administrative support

Advocacy

People with autism and other developmental disabilities face immense obstacles in achieving an independent life, despite the continued advancement of disability rights, treatments and service available. In addition to self-advocating, these individuals need the support of their communities and the people who care about them.

  • Know who your county and state legislators are so you are prepared when CSS asks for your letters of support.
  • Share the CSS story with community organizations you are involved in (scouts, sports cubs, business organizations).
  • Find organizations that impact and support people with disabilities and apply to become a member of the board or management team (Better Business Bureau, Advisory Boards)

Create Work Opportunities

The pandemic had a particularly hard impact on jobs for people with disabilities.  Employment not only helps individuals support themselves financially, it helps build their self-esteem and truly helps contribute to creating a “meaningful day” experience.

  • Do you have a business that can hire a person supported to do some of the routine, but necessary duties you require. Job seekers supported by CSS are reliable, hard working, loyal and committed.
  • Encourage businesses that hire individuals with disabilities through your patronage.
  • Let the managers of stores that hire individuals with disabilities know how much you value them.
  • Look for paid, or volunteer opportunities in your community.
  • CSS has employees working in the hospitality industry, food service, government, retail, agriculture, and more.
